My garden!!!
I decided to do a garden this year in front of our apartment. I didn’t have much space so I thought I would only do a few plants but as I started to look online at what was available for me to do I found a great site about Square Foot Gardening. I never knew you could do so much in such a little space!
So I read up on it and measured the space I had and decided to do it. I first tried to sprout some seeds, but the seeds just weren’t growing so I went to buy the pre-sprouted plants. Here they are!!!
I bought everything at Lowes. The wood, soil and plants. They had the best prices in town, but if they didn’t they will price match with any ad and do 10% less!
Square foot gardening requires you to have very high nutrient soil and to keep the plants well fertilized. So I bought the Kellogg N’rich soil. This soil is a compost type of soil and has everything you need in the soil. This means no other fertilizer is needed!!
I didn’t have enough room for all my plants and the seeds I wanted to plant so I put my tomatoes and the zucchini on the other side of the walk. In this area I dug the N’rich into the soil already there because the soil there was rock hard and it really needed some fertilization.
So I have 3 Tomatoes, 1 Zucchini, 1 Basil, 1 Cilantro, 1 Cantaloupe, 2 green peppers, 2 red peppers, 1 yellow pepper. 1 cucumber, 3 green beans, and 3 hot peppers. Then I have planted seeds in the other 3 areas. they will be carrots, green onions and yellow onions. I am so excited for these to grow and for us to have fresh fruits and vegitables!! It will save us a lot too!!
Any one else gardening???? What are you growing???
I am! I just posted about it, too, with pictures. 🙂
