DIY Christmas Ornaments: Dollar Store Gumdrop Ornament Tutorial For Kids

How to make a gumdrop ornament
Supplies Needed:
Assorted color gumdrops
Styrofoam balls
Ribbon
Hot glue, glue gun
I was able to find all of the above supplies at my local Dollar Tree store. The Styrofoam balls can be found in the crafting section and are sold in a bag of 5. Not bad!
Directions:
1. Begin by deciding if you want your gumdrops to be applied in patterns or just a mismatch design.
2. Apply a generous dab of glue to the bottom, flat side of the gumdrop.
3. Press the gumdrop to the ball, pressing firmly and holding for a few seconds until you know it has adhered well.
4. Repeat this process until the ball is covered. If you have a small space that is not covered but a gum drop won’t fit in it, just use scissors to snip a small piece of the gumdrop candy that will cover the space.
5. Once the ball is covered, cut a piece of ribbon for hanging. Apply some glue to the ends and press it in between two gumdrops. Allow 15 minutes for drying.
Your gumdrop ornament is now ready for hanging. You can even make several of these and display them in a bowl if you wish for a colorful holiday display. Either way, these gumdrop ornaments are sure to add some sweetness to your holiday décor. Give them a try!
